This week I tasted a Belgian beer, to date unbeknownst to me. What a treat! Tripick, made by Brasserie Les Trois Fourquets, near the city of LIège, is a blond Pale Ale style beer, unfiltered, and comes in 6% alcohol or 8% alcohol versions. I enjoyed the Tripick 6 at the monthly gathering of Belgians in Toronto.
The beer itself has been fermented in the bottle, so when you pour, be careful! A rich, creamy head is the crowning glory. The colour is a bright golden hue, slightly murky, due to its not being filtered.
The palate is complex, full-bodied yet fresh and lively. Tastes like a fine Tripel. Available at the PreNup Pub, The Town Crier and Sin and Redemption pubs. It is new on their extensive beer list. Alternatively, you can order in larger quantities from the agent.
