Leo Profile2.jpg

In 1991, Leo Baduria left a career as medical research assistant and joined the wine industry as a sales associate for a respected wine agency where he gained experience in wine marketing until he created Groupe Soleil with a partner in 1997. Two years later, he set up Amphorae in 1999, and, finally, his very own company, Portfolio Wine & Spirits in 2001, where he developed the market for specialty wines from independent family growers in France, Italy, Austria, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. He introduced into the market wines that have not been seen before, such as Gruner Veltliner, Primitivo, Negroamaro, among others. He continues to expand his commitment to bring in unique wines and spirits from dedicated producers around the globe. His passion for artisanal wines, sakés and spirits, along with his knowledge and expertise, led to the creation of Vinologie in response to the changing drinks market in Canada.
