HOLIDAY CLASSICS RELEASE - DECEMBER 7, 2023
BAROLO RISERVA 2015
Azienda Giovanni Corino
TASTING NOTES: Full bodied and flavourful with still rather tight tannins and a brightly spiced finish. Lots of focus and precision here. There is clearly a lot of effort which goes into this wine from the oak imprint, the density of flavour and the style and shape of the tannins – which are clearly built for the long haul. In terms of extraction, this is a powerful wine and it teeters on the edge of tipping over into muscularity and brawn. Only time will tell but I am a little cautious here and will certainly award this wine a gold medal score on account of its obvious class and grandeur.

Weingut Leindl Riesling Ried Heiligenstein 2020
Medium green-yellow, silver reflections. White tropical fruit, candied tangerine zest, a hint of pineapple and passion fruit, hints of lime, mineral touch. Juicy, appears light-footed and elegant, pleasant acidity, underscored by minerals, a harmonious, well-developed accompaniment to food.

Michael Godel - Wine Align 90 points 5 stars
Here is a truly classic, solid and nothing but lovely example of grüner veltliner at a really affordable price. Not easy to find beauty and complexity at under $20 but Leindl's achieves both with classic varietal standing. Almost flinty, white pepper shakes so very fine and fruit coming at you from every which way. Citrus, stone fruit, melon, you name it, this wine gives it and then goes all salty mineral in the end. Terrific work and result. Drink 2023-2026. Tasted August 2023.
